Top 5 Mascaras

Recently, while going through my makeup to get ready, I noticed something. I AM A MASCARA HOARDER! I have so many, and its embarrasing to admit that I did not realize it. I have everything, from high end to drugstore and I decided to feature on this week’s Beauty Post, my Top 5 favorite mascaras! I am very specific about what I like in my mascara. As I like to think I have good lashes ( thank you Mommy and Daddy! ), what I look for is more volume than length, although if a mascara provides both then its THE ONE. Im also very particular about the brush. My favorite mascara has a “plastic” brush with very short bristles which allow me to really get up in my lash line and separate all my lashes. However, I have been loving two mascaras that have bigger brushes and the shape of the bristles are quite different, so I can say I’m expanding my mascara horizon! Here are my Top 5. What is your favorite mascara?

1.Rocket Volum’ Express (Maybelline) – This is hands- down, no questions asked, my FAVORITE mascara. Ever since I’ve had it, it has become my go to girl. It gives amazing volume and really separates the lashes creating the perfect look. Sometimes, it looks like you are wearing falsies. I LOVE IT! Its waterproof version does the job as well. ( I own it, since I’m one emotional gal.) Available in your favorite drugstore both in the UK and the USA.

2. Wonder Lash Mascara (Oriflame) I discovered this brand from Sweden and this mascara through Latest in Beauty and I am in love with it. The brush is quite thin, so it really separates the lashes and elongates them. I like to wear this mascara when I do not wear to much makeup as the formula is quite thin, but it adds the perfect length and volume to define your eyes during those no makeup-makeup days.  It retails for £8.45 in the UK.

3. They’re Real (Benefit) – I received the They’re Real mascara as a sample, and after much hype about it, I decided to give it a go. I am very impressed with it, as it gives enough volume and length to your lashes. I would recommend this mascara to girls with shorter lashes because the tip is designed to really get close to your lash line and create that curl. Benefit is available in Boots and online in the UK £19.50/ USA & PR $23.00

rimmel london lash accelerator mascara

4. Lash Accelerator (Rimmel London)This is one of my newest mascaras from Rimmel London  and I am loving it ! After watching my favorite vloggers rave about it, time and time again, I decided to purchase it! It is not clunky, it separates your lashes beautiful and does not clump your lashes while creating a volumizing effect! I use it as a base for other mascaras, but it definitely can be worn on its own and I definitely recommend this mascara if you are looking for something new at the drugstore! Available at your favorite drugstore!

5.Better than Sex ( Too Faced)– This is my newest obssesion and the newest addition to my mascara family. At first glance, I did not like it. It seemed to clumpy and too much when you first open it. After application, WOW, THE LENGTH.. THE VOLUME! My lashes looked super long and curly! I was in love! I will definitely purchase again! In the UK it can be found in Debenhams for £19.00 and in the USA through Sephora or for $23.00.

Travel Essentials: Skin Prep

Before a long haul flight, prepping not always consists of what to wear, what inside my carry-on or printing out my boarding pass. Prepping for me also consists of skin care essentials, the night before my flight. As we all know, the air in the airplane cabin is not always that great on our skin. It tends to dry it out and in return our skin overcompensates with oils, and that is when breakouts happen. I have found a way to keep my skin hydrated not only on the flight itself, but also pre-departure. These are my three must haves for skin care prep!

1. The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion: This exfoliator is perfect to get rid of dull skin. We all want radiant, healthy looking skin when we go on holiday, right? It is a bit intense, so I would not recommend for sensitive skin, but for all other skin types it is a must have! Before applying any serums or masks I want my face feeling as clean and healthy as possible and this scrub does the trick!

2. A’kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil: This natural oil is amazing! I use it daily before applying my night moisturizer and it leaves the skin feeling glowy and soft in the morning. Although it is an oil, it DOES NOT leave the skin either looking or feeling oily! I highly recommend this for all skin types. Miranda Kerr swears by it, and she looks amazing! I like to use it before my  overnight mask on the day before a flight, for extra hydration.

3. Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask: I love this clear mask! It is perfect to put on at night and go to sleep. It does not stain your sheets or clothes which is definitely a plus for an overnight mask. This mask is perfect to use also during long haul flights. I used it on my flights to and from Thailand, which included several 7 hour flights and I had no need to put moisturizer on during the flight and my skin felt very hydrated without the oiliness. In combination with the Rosehip Oil, your skin will definitely feel hydrated and well behaved!

Beauty Review: Lancôme

This post is in Spanish and originally appears in EgoModa, for which I write for.

Toronto, Canada: Summer

Last year, I had the opportunity to visit Canada for the very first time. It was one of those impromptu trips that turned out to be a great vacation.  I visited Toronto and immediately fell in love. It is a great city with a great atmosphere and  amazing people.  I am at a point in my life where wherever I go I think if I would like to settle and live there. Toronto got a big, fat, YES!

I had the idea that Canada was this beautiful, COLD country, 365 days of the year. I visited towards the end of August, and let me tell you… It was HOT! I had packed jeans and some light long sleeves and it was just not suitable, so check the temperature before you leave!

During the summer time there are plenty of cool things to do in Toronto. Some of these can even be done all year round! Here are some of my favorite!

1. CN Tower: One of the tallest buildings in the world, the views from up top are like no other! You can see the city of Toronto and Lake Ontario. Do not miss the glass floor that allows you to stand and stare at the people waaaaay down below! Don’t worry, the floor can hold the weight of 14 hippos, so you’ll be fine.

2. Catch a baseball game at the Rogers Centre: Although we are now right in the middle of the World Series (GO GIANTS!) The home of the Toronto Blue Jays is a must visit in Toronto. I had the opportunity to go to a Yankees vs. Blue Jays game and sporting my beloved Yankees cap ( I am a Yankees fan FOR EVA!) , I braved through a sea of blue and got some light hearted abuse along the way. It was a very fun night out and I would totally recommend it!

3. Outdoors Summer Concert: I didn’t realize until the day before, that KiSS 92.5 was presenting their annual Wham Bam concert at the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) and that Avril Lavigne and Robin Thicke were the main acts!  It is a must do in the summer! Also, be sure to check out the summer festivals in the area!

4. Have a drink: Now this can be done year-round! Two places that we’re perfect for a drink before the baseball game and a fun night out with friends were the Real Sports Bar & Grill next to the Air Canada Centre, home of the Toronto Raptors and the Maple Leafs and Madison Avenue Pub, one of the largest pubs in the world. Real Sports bar is a great place to meet before a game and if you can’t make it inside, then the screens across the bar will put you right in the action. Madison Avenue Pub is set across three Victorian Mansions, and it has good music, great beer and an amazing atmosphere.

5. Eat Poutine: This is an amazing Canadian dish that is perfect after a night out or whenever hunger strikes. It is made of French fries, gravy and cheese curds. One word: Delicioso!

I can’t wait to go back to Canada and experience all it has to offer, and of course…eat some more poutine! What is your favorite part of Toronto?
